Short film from my trip to Guadalajara.
My colleague Bill Musgrave at TEN is on a mission and somehow he has managed to rope me into what I believe is a great cause for our community of Silicon Valley and its impact on the world community. I have lifted a couple of paragraphs out of his most recent paper that everyone should read and think about.
"It Takes Community Commitment to Drive Innovation
While Silicon Valley is making a comeback following the Dot Com meltdown and 9/11, many areas of the U.S. and the world are recovering at a faster pace. I believe that a key in accelerating our recovery and sustaining the Valley's reputation as the global epicenter for technology and innovation is to increase our subsidized support for the high-risk pre-funded startup. Just as university endowments and taxpayers subsidize student tuition, high-risk entrepreneurs are a worthy societal investment because of the innovations and economic vitality they generate.
During these last four difficult years, I have been proud of the way the TEN community -- our entrepreneurs, volunteers, advisers, corporate sponsors, donors, and staff have not let down and continued our focus on building successful companies. With the support of corporate sponsors and donors, we will continue to do our part at TEN in assisting Silicon Valley entrepreneurs, including joining with other organizations that share our commitment. Pulling together, we can keep the entrepreneurial spirit alive in Silicon Valley, drive innovation, and contribute to the future of our community and economy."
